"Make A Way" by Desperation Band | Song Devotional

Posted by Craig Borlase on 21 February 2017

When Job was faced with the most unbearable suffering, God was a not absent. When Job was confused, or proud, or just worn down by all the weight of pain and grief, God was not wondering how to rescue the situation. God was simply waiting. He was waiting for Job to find Him. Waiting for Job to realize the truth about what it means to serve and love our heavenly Father.

Majesty In A Manger - "Come To Save Us" Song Devotional

Posted by Craig Borlase on 16 December 2016

You’ve gotta love this passage. It’s the eve of the Israelite's miraculous escape from the hands of the Egyptians, and God prepares to send his judgement down on the people who have enslaved and oppressed His people.

Majesty In A Manger - "Gloria (Our Savior Found Us)" Song Devotional

Posted by Craig Borlase on 9 December 2016

The Bible is full of descriptions of sin, and wherever it does, there’s often a lot to read on the subject of separation. Sin has a way of doing that to us; leaving us cut adrift from God.

Majesty In A Manger - "Majesty In A Manger" Song Devotional

Posted by Craig Borlase on 1 December 2016

In many ways, there was nothing particularly special about the baby or the birth. That poverty, that narrowly-averted scandal when Mary fell pregnant, that greeting party of those social misfits (AKA the shepherds); none of it was worthy of a king. None of it was majestic.

Majesty In A Manger - "Forever Amen (Glory To God)" Song Devotional

Posted by Craig Borlase on 25 November 2016

In choosing to come to earth, Jesus chose the ending on the cross. And that is where the power comes: as a willing, living, perfect sacrifice, Jesus' death was worth more than all the year old lambs that would ever exist.

You And I Both Need To Fail

Posted by Craig Borlase on 2 September 2016

Maybe we're never going to create something as wildly popular as we believe God's anointing in us is capable of. Maybe our story won’t ever be known beyond our friends and family, and - here's a wild one - maybe that won't be a sign of failure.Like the dead Irish playwright said, ‘Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.’

Why You Should Read Matt Redman’s New Book (and why I nearly didn’t write it)

Posted by Craig Borlase on 17 August 2016

And then there’s the songwriter himself. He didn’t have much luck with fathers, and childhood handed out more pain than most of us would expect to handle in a lifetime, but Matt found that when he sang his worship to God, his perspective changed. As he turned his eyes to his Father, he began to see a bolder, brighter story being written.

Never Alone - Why Two New Worship Songwriters Want to Help People Recover Courage

Posted by Craig Borlase on 14 June 2016

We want to use the gifts and tools God has given us—in the context of singing and making music—to serve and encourage the Church as well as to take part in the renewal He is bringing. That renewal will enable us to stand firm and impact our spheres of influence with the Gospel in a day when culture is set against us.

Bono Thinks That Worship Music Has An Honesty Problem. Is He Right?

Posted by Craig Borlase on 26 May 2016

Is Bono right? In our quest to be passionately devoted to God, have we somehow narrowed the focus of our emotions? Or are we simply leaning more towards Praise these days? Are we too drawn to the songs which make us feel good rather than the songs which help us be real? Is that even a bad thing?

All The Inspiration You’ll Need This Weekend: Wright, Tickle and Rohr on Pentecost

Posted by Craig Borlase on 13 May 2016

With Pentecost coming this Sunday, here’s some brilliant stuff from NT Wright, Phyllis Tickle & Richard Rohr to make you think. “The great Pentecost scene, with the wind and fire and the sudden rush of multilingual speech, has confused many in the last generations because it has been set within the wrong story."
