the Friday pickle: do you need more silence?

Silence can be awkward, can’t it? But not all silence is equal. The times when the mic fails or you forget what song you’re supposed to be singing next can be a million miles away from those moments when the Spirit seems to press the mute button and the silence falls upon you all. 

So, today’s pickle - which isn’t really a pickle after all - is simply this: how much space for silence will you make the next time you lead? Will you plan to start with it? Perhaps you might want to press pause right in the middle of the worship slot. What would it be like to end in holy reverence? 

If the very thought leaves you feeling awkward, then maybe the pickle is this: what are you afraid will happen if you say and play nothing?
