the Friday pickle - has social media made you a better worship leader?

Posted by Craig Borlase on 28 June 2013

Chances are, you’re doing it right now. And you’ve probably already done it once or twice today. And you’ll have a quick go at it before you go to bed.

Following on from Brenton Brown’s excellent article posted on this site a couple of days ago, we’ve been thinking.

For many, the world of modern worship takes to social media like a duck to water. It is a great way of communicating quickly and directly, sharing songs and spreading the love.

But there are others out there who see it from the opposite angle. Social media, they say, makes performers and showmen out of us all. All that chasing after followers and likes and public displays of affirmation will get us into trouble.

So what about you? Has it helped you, or have you left it all behind? Are you a better worship leader for having a twitter account? What are your tips for doing it well?

A Simple Prayer For Healing

On one particular night, the line extended well beyond midnight and after finishing, I went straight to bed, not even taking my clothes off I was so exhausted. About three o’clock in the morning, I heard a rap on the door and a squeaky little voice: Brennan, can I talk to you?
