No One Like Our God - Song Devotional

Matt Redman

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of writing about the cross. I’ve written so many songs about it already, but there are so many angles from which you can ap-proach it. Besides, God’s mercies are new every morning - how could we ever run out of things to say about all He has done for us in that place?

This song was written with Jonas Myrin and Ed Cash, and they know that I’m always trying to write songs that have a rhythm of breathing in and breathing out: verses that speak of the wonder of who Christ is and what He’s done, while the chorus gives us the chance to exhale our response, our song of praise.

That’s exactly what this song does.

I love how it opens up, how it talks about the fact that every accusation and eve-ry condemnation is silenced at the cross. All our guilt, our sin, all the things that make us unloveable and unworthy… they’re all silenced at the cross.

When we inhale truth like that, it seems to me that there’s only one possible way to respond: to exhale our songs of praise to Jesus, our Saviour.
