Are You Tired of Waiting?

Posted by Becca Nicholson on 17 January 2019

How long have you been on hold on the phone? I've counted 35 minutes before hanging up, only to call back later. I'm not the only one who doesn't like to wait. The faces that stand around the coffee bar tell me that!

I believe that hope is an essential ingredient for our lives to be all that God intends us to be, but hope requires waiting, and we don't like waiting. The writer of Hebrews puts it this way: "Faith is being sure of what we hope for. It is being certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1

But some of us fall into discouragement in a season of waiting. Hope fades when something doesn't work out the way we thought it would, or in the timing we envisioned. As worship leaders this is so easy to do, and yet God is working behind the scenes. Because of this we can keep our hopes up. You may have a dream "on hold". God is working still, each day laying a foundation for what is to come.

Beautiful things grow when we wait, so stay faithful in the process. You are building hope in your heart and in the congregation you lead. God is a promise-keeper, you can be sure of it.

Gate Of Heaven - Song Devotional by David Binion

I've had some incredible experiences in worship where it seemed all of Heaven came pouring into the room, the air almost too thick to breathe. Years ago, in one of these moments I stumbled upon this passage, “Surely the Lord is in this place and I did not know it. This is none other then the house of God, the gate of heaven.”
